BIOGRAPHY

One Christmas morning on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii, a little girl reached into her stocking and found a gift that would forever change her life path. Knowingly or not, her parents had given her the gifts of purpose and inspiration, in the form of concert tickets to see Michael Jackson. Standing amidst the droves of mesmerized, screaming, crying, and fainting fans, little Amani awakened to her calling--to transcend boundaries and move the world through performance.

Amani was born Adriana Marie Sims on August 13, 1987.  At the age of five, under the auspices of her mother, Lena, she took up hula, jazz and hip hop dance.  Amani found her passion connecting music and movement, often dancing for hours at a time.

Amani fed her developing fire for music by singing in her school choir at Pearl Harbor Elementary and in her church choir, where her vocal talents shone.  By the age of 8, Amani had formed her own girl group called J.A.G. (Janelle, Adriana, and Glenda), and experienced some of her best childhood moments performing with them for every classroom each Friday.

After living on an island all her life, Amani’s family relocated to California, where she attended Buena Park High School.  She joined the dance team, played basketball, and ran track.  Amani was chosen to sing the Star Spangled Banner at her high school graduation.  After attending Fullerton College, she was accepted to the prestigious American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), where she studied on-camera acting, stage acting, voice and speech, singing, ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theater.

Since graduating from AMDA, Amani has continued to make huge strides towards her dream of becoming a positive inspiration to the people of the world.  That little girl from Hawaii, who once found her calling in the hypnotic power of the King of Pop, has developed into a gripping performer, a polished artist, and a stunningly beautiful woman.

At the age 16, Amani along with current manager Dante Love created TMA formally known as The Main Attraction. Throughout, the years Amani molded and prepared herself with the help of TMA, family, and friends.  The experience that she gained from performances, radio interviews, and artist development evolved Miss Amani. Thankfully, opportunities started to present themselves.

A chance conversation with successful Norwegian producer, Joachim “Jay Arr” Rygg, proved to be the pivotal break her career needed.  Together with Jay Arr and songwriter/vocal coach, Hillary Bernstein, Amani has formed an indomitable team with a chemistry that seems to affirm predestination. The three are currently wrapping up Amani’s debut album of solid Pop hits, starting with the relentlessly hooky, “Sexy,” which is already making waves, landing coveted placements in the Film and TV world. Often likened to such megastars as Britney Spears, Pussycat Dolls and Janet Jackson, Amani’s voice is sweet yet edgy, tinged with attitude, yet filled with passion.  Her star is on the rise and this one-in-a-million talent is poised to leave an indelible and historical mark on the modern world.
